Who knocks? That April!

Who knocks? That April! Lock the door! I will not be pursued! He stayed away a year, to call When I am occupied. Nature rarer uses yellow…

Lady Nature is no spendthrift! She is tightfisted when it comes to yellow…She doesn’t mind splurging all other hues all around, but she saves all the yellows for Sunsets! The bright and resplendent Yellow: the colour of prosperity, joy, warmth; the colour that fills you with cheer and hope! The colour of the metal thatContinue reading “Nature rarer uses yellow…”

The Lotus Eaters

The land of the Lotus Eaters comes real and alive in Alfred Lord Tennyson’s famous poem ‘The Lotus Eaters’; the land “in which it seemed always afternoon” as the atmosphere was so peaceful and languid. The poem takes you to a dreamland and leaves you droopy eyed and intoxicated! All round the coastContinue reading “The Lotus Eaters”

Poetry has no barriers, it crosses the boundaries; it blends with any nation, people, any terrain. It is universal. A ‘God of Small Things’ can happen only in Aymanam, ‘A Mornings in Jenin’ can take place only in Ein Hod or a ‘Thousan Splendid Suns’ rise only in Herat or Kabul. Midas Touch

April is the cruellest month…’, says T.S.Eliot, but when we were children April was the merriest of the months! In Kerala schools usually close on the 31st of March and the two month-long Summer vacation was a time to rejoice! Holidays at Anakkara had a special charm. Each day was filled with fun, new adventuresContinue reading “Midas Touch”

A drop fell on the mango tree-another on the roof…

‘Horses sweat, men perspire and women merely glow’, goes the saying. Lady Phnom Penh is exhausted from glowing. Today she glistened with raindrops for a short while. A very brief respite from the suffocating heat! The smell of cool air and wet earth is refreshing. Sincerely wish this’s the start of the much awaited, longContinue reading “A drop fell on the mango tree-another on the roof…”
