“Nothing is rich but the inexhaustible wealth of nature. She shows us only surfaces, but she is a million fathoms deep.” Emerson
Yet another Earth Day is here today… A day dedicated to mother Earth who grows younger as her children grow older. She forgives the miscreants, her children and tolerates the harm they inflict on her. But when they cross the limit a bit too much she stamps her foot or shakes her shoulders or glares at her children with ‘flashing eyes and floating hair’ … Better not to provoke her and fall victim to her wrath. She is benevolent and never fails to surprise her children; she leaves them in wonderment and awe at her boundless resources, wealth and beauty.
Sharing a powerful quote of Paulo Coelho which touched me deeply-
”How can we be so arrogant? The planet is, was, and always will be stronger than us. We can’t destroy it; if we overstep the mark, the planet will simply erase us from its surface and carry on existing. Why don’t they start talking about not letting the planet destroy us?”
How true!!
And as Thoreau puts it
“What’s the use of a fine house if you haven’t got a tolerable planet to put it on?”
Let us tread on her gently, guard the immense wealth she has bestowed on us.
